Wilburn Allen Brown, 71, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his residence on Rock Springs Road surrounded by his loving family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Kenny McFarlen officiating. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery on Rock Springs Road. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born October 10, 1947 in Maury County, he was the son of the late John Raymond Brown and the late Ruby Frances Hardison Brown. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1968 where he was stationed in Germany. For several years, he worked for General Electric until the plant closed, then worked for Peterbilt and Teledyne. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed farming, fishing, and classic cars and tractors. Mr. Brown was a member of New Lasea Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his wife, whom he married September 3, 1966, Marie Brown Brown of Columbia; daughter, Dena Brown (Stephen) Johnson of Columbia; granddaughter, Lindsey Johnson of Columbia; grandson, Austin Johnson of Columbia; sister, Dorothy (Van) Brown of Columbia; brother, Charles (Nancy) Brown of Petersburg; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; special friends, John, Kim, Kaitlyn, and Johnathon Waldrum; Wendell and Vickie Pullen. Active pallbearers will be Austin Johnson, Ronnie Huckaby, John Waldrum, Johnathon Waldrum, Wendell Pullen, and Mike Isbell. Honorary pallbearers include Van Brown and Elders, Deacons, and members of New Lasea Church of Christ.
