Willa Dolores Rogers Brown

Willa Dolores Rogers Brown, 87, retired secretary and resident of Wedgewood Drive, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at NHC Columbia Health Care. A graveside inurnment service will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Chaplain C. Ray Dye officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. The family suggests memorials to Maury County Animal Shelter, 1233 Mapleash Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born September 2, 1929, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Elvin Horace Rogers, Sr. and the late Rachel Scoggin Rogers. She served in the Women's Army Corp. during the Korean Conflict. Prior to her retirement in 1997, she was employed as secretary for Price Construction Company and Rogers Plumbing & Electric. She was a 64-year member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Survivors include her brother, Billy (Patsy) Rogers of Columbia; niece, Allison Rogers (Jeremy) Hanback of Columbia; great nephew, William Rogers Spencer; great nieces, Hensleigh Reagan Hanback and Lainey Rachel Hanback; son, Gary Michael (Lou Ann) Brown of Naples, Florida; and grandchildren, Lewis Brown and Jane Brown. She was preceded in death by a brother, Elvin Horace "Pete" Rogers, Jr. The family would like to express a special thank you to Caris Hospice and the staff of NHC Columbia Health Care.
