View Video Tribute Willie Mae Boykin Murphy, 87, retired self-employed bookkeeper and resident of The Bridge at Columbia, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with William Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 P.M - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born May 8, 1931 in Greenwood Springs, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick E. Boykin and the late Willie Mae Dodd Boykin. On December 31, 1950, she married Max D. Murphy, who preceded her in death March 27, 1998. Mrs. Murphy was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Daniel (Julie) Murphy of Columbia; grandsons, Robert Murphy of Columbia; William Murphy of Jackson; and John Murphy of Columbia; sisters, Vera Youngbloom of Austin, Texas; and Ann Hester of Nettleton, Mississippi. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include friends and staff of The Bridge at Columbia.
