William Clark "Dub" Barnes, Sr., 87, retired owner and operator of Barnes Carpet Service for over thirty years and resident of Pickens Lane, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with his grandson Rev. Andy Hargrove officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 4:00 P.M. EST at West Hill Cemetery in Trion, Georgia. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols. Born March 11, 1929, in Trion, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Frank Barnes and Madeline Ruby Henderson Barnes. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed quail hunting, raising bird dogs, growing vegetables, boating, and fishing. Survivors include his children, Frankie (Sam) Noles of Ringgold, Georgia; Johnnie (Art) Hargrove of Huntsville, Alabama; William Clark "Billy" (Matilda) Barnes, Jr. of Memphis; Reneé (Bryan) Haynes and Belinda Beard, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Ashley Noles, Rev. Andy (Christine) Hargrove, Sarah (Courtney) Mitchell, Elizabeth (Chris) Miller, Brandy Barnes, Peyton Barnes, Addison Barnes, William Donald "Buddy" Haynes, Matthew Beard; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Julius "Sonny" Suits; and siblings, Haynie Lou Starkey, Bill Barnes, Joyce Price, and Joan Crowe. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
