William Dale "Bill" Barker

William Dale “Bill” Barker, 68, retired employee of General Motors, died Thursday, March 21, 2019 at his residence in the Primm Springs Community. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born September 17, 1950 in Adrian, Michigan, he was the son of the late Jack Hephner and the late Hazel Wood Hephner. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War, where he received the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Bill had a great personality, a fun sense of humor, and was easy to talk to. He always enjoyed life and loved playing with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife whom he married August 23, 1983, Deanna Kay “Dee” Youtsey Barker of Primm Springs; daughter, Ashley (Brad) Slaughter of Spring Hill; son, Ed (Erica) Rickman of Smyrna; grandchildren, Andy Slaughter, Auden Slaughter, Kailyn Sexton, Cason Slaughter, Ethan Rickman; sisters, Kathy (Jim) Butler of Michigan, Connie Lee of Texas, Alice Hephner of California; and brothers, Ed Barker of Oregon, Tom (Barbara) Hephner of California, Jim Hephner of Tennessee, and Jack Hephner of Arizona. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Barker and John Hephner.
