View Tribute VideoView Funeral Webcast William James "Bear" Davis, Jr., 57, probation officer for DTS Probation Services, died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at his residence on Porter Circle. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Chad Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Fruit of the Vine Christmas Fund, P. O. Box 1074, Columbia 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Williams James Davis, Sr. and Mary Knight Davis. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia State Community College and Austin Peay University. He was retired from Monsanto Company, and was formerly a Deputy with the Maury and Williamson County Sheriff's Departments. Mr. Davis was a member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Fruit of the Vine, Columbia Elks Lodge, and American Legion. He loved music and played the guitar. Survivors include his wife, Linda Dalton Davis of Columbia; daughters, Kim (Victor) Booker and Amy (Karlo) Williams, both of Columbia; adored grandchildren, Kelsey Booker, Riley Tucker, Amberly Tucker, and Tristen Williams, all of Columbia; sisters, Sarah (Butch) Nowlin and Virginia Kay "Sissy" Carr, both of Unionville; nieces, Rhonda (Tony) Dias of Eagleville, Mary Elizabeth Johnson (Harry) Reed of Franklin, Ashley (Stephen) Cook, Amiya Dias, and Eli Cook, all of Unionville; aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. "Monk" Knight of Alabama; and beloved pet dogs, Bobo, Sarah Louise, Audrey, Mary Ellen, and Polly Sue; and pet cat, Mary. Active pallbearers are Reed Poling, Victor Booker, Karlo Williams, Pee Wee Posey, Harry Reed, Jim Poling, Elliott Andrews, Donnie Joe Cothran, Tony Dias, and Stephen Cook.
