William Howard "Sonny" Hill, 70, retired superintendent for Columbia Gulf Transmission Company, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at his residence on Mt. Olivet Road. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Curtis Dowdy and Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Maury County native was the son of the late William Howard Hill and Sally Aydelotte Hill. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Faye Minor Hill of Columbia; a daughter, Nan (Steve) Hawkins of Cookeville; two sons, Mark (Julie) Hill of Athens, Alabama and Ben (Patty) Hill of Memphis; a sister, Mary Ellen Ronchetti of Columbia; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers are Wayne Jones, Walter Hurt, Don Briggs, Eddie Inman, Wayne Hickman, Al Hickman, Harold Balkcom, and Mark Jones. Honorary pallbearers include current and retired employees of Columbia Gulf Transmission Company.
