William Wilmoth Hardison, Sr. 97, retired owner and operator of Burt Brothers Furniture Company and resident Prosser Road, died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at NHC Scott in Lawrenceburg. The family will visit with friends Monday from 12:30 - 1:30 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home. Private family graveside will be held at Polk Memorial Gardens with Mike Tidwell and Will Tidwell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born September 15, 1919 in Marshall County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Ollie Hardison and the late Janie Harvey Hardison. He served in United States Army during World War II. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and repairing and tinkering around. Mr. Hardison was a longtime member of Fairview Church of Christ of Pulaski.Survivors include his wife, whom he married December 21, 1940, Dorothy Marie Attkisson Hardison of Lawrenceburg; daughters, Debbie (Warren) Bone of Pegram; Wanda (Mike) Tidwell of Gallatin; sons, William (Paulette) Hardison, Jr. of Pulaski; Dwight (Sarah) Hardison of Belden, Mississippi; grandchildren, Rebecca (Michael) Runions, Scott Hardison, Will (Joslin) Tidwell, Cindy Thurmon, Reid Hardison; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kellie Tidwell; siblings, Elvin Hardison, John Hardison, Mack Hardison, Ruth Hardison Andrews, and Bessie Hardison Harris. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
