William C. "Bill" Howell, Sr., 82, retired from Monsanto Company and owner-operator of "Bill's" Upper Level and The Donut Shop, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Williamson Medical Center.Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Clyde Denton and Rev. David McGregor officiating.é Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. ééThe Maury County native was the son of the late Oscar Howell and Leatha Norman Howell.é He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.éSurvivors include his wife, Mary Frances Lentz Howell; daughter, Debbie (Kenneth) Green; sons, Calvin (Jean) Howell and Robin (Sarah) Howell; step-daughters, Donna (Ron) Orozco, Becky (Danny) Russell, and Patricia Albright; step-son, Col. Bob (Micha) Henderson; grandson, Scott Howell; great-grandchildren, Mary Kathryne Howell, Angela Jean Howell; ten step-children; twelve step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Kathryne Brooks Howell and five brothers, Carmack Howell, Herschel Howell, Raymond Howell, Murray Howell, and J. I. Howell.éNephews will serve as active pallbearers.é Honorary pallbearers include Monsanto retirees, step-grandchildren, Albert Lentz, Dr. Cary Pulliam, Dr. Gaylon Harris, members of the Columbia Elks Lodge, Billy Kennedy, Jerry Kennedy, and Marc Craig.
