Mr. William N. "Red" JohnsonMr. William Norton "Red" Johnson, 84, retired from Union Carbide Corporation, died Friday, June 11, 2004 in Silver Spring, Maryland while visiting his family. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jim Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. Men of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church will serve as pallbearers. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He was a native of Green Hill, Alabama and son of the late George Taylor Johnson and Sally Inez Thornton Johnson and a member of the Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. He made his home in Columbia until moving to Lexington to make his home with his daughter.His wife, Christine Moody Johnson, preceded him in death in 1998.Survivors include a daughter, Betty K. (Noel E.) Johnson of Lexington; a son, Robert N. (Nancy) Johnson of Silver Spring, Maryland; grandchildren, Kathryn (Ronnie) Gibson of Columbia, Karyn Johnson of Glen Burnie, Maryland, Karyl-Lynn (Guy) Tirk of King George, Virginia, Rob Johnson and Greg Johnson of Silver Spring, Maryland; three brothers, Gene Johnson of Columbia, Marvin Johnson of Lawrenceburg and James Johnson of Florence, Alabama.
