View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Willard McDowell Johnson, Jr., 73, resident of Polk Lane, died Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jimmy Rochelle officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences maybe extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 15, 1948 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Willard McDowell Johnson, Sr. and the late Dorothy Norman Johnson. For eighteen years he worked for Monsanto Chemical Company and retired from Tennessee Aluminum Processors after twenty-six years of service. He was very proud of his time playing in various local baseball leagues. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. Mr. Johnson was a member of Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he had served as an Elder. Survivors include his wife, whom he married June 6, 1969, Shirley Glyn Martin Johnson of Columbia; children, Tammy (Gary) Greksa of Columbia, Jeff Johnson (fiancé Elizabeth Campbell) of Franklin, Katherine (Adam) Burleson of Summertown; sisters, Beverly (Wayne) Green of Columbia; Darlene Fisher of Columbia; two half-brothers, Bobby Johnson of Watertown; Charles Johnson of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Cole Cheek, Paige (Nick) Janowicz, Jake Johnson, Lincoln Burleson, Amelia Burleson; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Janowicz and Henry Janowicz; mother-in-law, Hazel Martin of Columbia; sister-in-law, Kathie Martin of Murfreesboro and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, JM Johnson, Cleophus Johnson, and Dewey Johnson. Active pallbearers will be Cole Cheek, Jake Johnson, Lincoln Burleson, Gary Greksa, Adam Burleson, Nick Janowicz, Josh Martin, Tim Norman, and Jimmy Massey. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church and retired employees of Monsanto Chemical Company. Memorials may be made to Mt.
