Family and friends regret to announce, William Thomas Osborne, 97, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Williamson Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Janice Hardison Osborne of Columbia; daughters, Ouida (Steve) Hill of Columbia; Phoebe (Jeff) Zimmer of Nashville; sons, Ross Osborne of Columbia; Wendell (Lenae) Cheek of Brentwood; sister, Fannie D. Ellis of Nashville; grandchildren, Anderson (Meredith) Hill; John (Megan) Hill; Laura (Trenton) Schmidt; William Osborne; Rachel Osborne; Wendy Lucas; John Cheek; Lori Scott; Rachel Cheek; Molly Zimmer; thirteen great grandchildren; and niece, Suzanne Lewter.Born October 30, 1920 in Maury County, he was the son of the late William Thomas Osborne and the late Minnie Harris Osborne. A well-known businessman and entrepreneur, in 1951 he started and was part owner of Turner & Osborne. He was the founder of Bigby Hollow Golf Course and served on the Board of Directors for First Farmers and Merchants Bank. Mr. Osborne was a member of Spring Meadow Church of Christ and the Kiwanis Club. Active pallbearers will be Anderson Hill, John Hill, William Osborne, Trenton Schmidt, David Perkins, Cromer Jackson, Ashley Brown, and Elvis Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers include Baird Harris, Connie Puryear, David Langhands, Netti Jane Langhands, Joel Locke, Walt Johnson, Lou and Vivian Nokes, Dot Baskin, and Dwayne and Teri Moore. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes &Nichols Funeral Home with Dale Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 5:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M. and Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
