Mr. William Wade Reed, Sr., 66, auctioneer with Crye-Leike Realtors, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at his residence on Green Acres Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Vann and Rev. James Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Willie Reed and Lula May Allen Reed. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. On March 31, 1961 he married Sandra Gail Compton Reed who survives him. Mr. Reed had memberships in The Southern Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors, Tennessee Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors and the Middle Tennessee Regional Multiple Listing Service. He was a 1971 graduate of Ft. Smith Auctioneer School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and was a leader in the Tennessee Auctioneer Association. He won the Tennessee Auctioneer's calling contest and had several apprentice auctioneers under his guidance over the years. He was Head Auctioneer for Crye-Leike Columbia office for many years and belonged to the Crye-Leike Multi-Million Dollar Club. Mr. Reed served in the Tennessee National Guard and attended Craft Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife are one daughter, Jennifer (Jody) Spencer of Columbia; one son, William Wade (Kimberly) Reed, Jr. of Columbia; six grandchildren, Amanda Holt, Landon Reed, Jesse Spencer, Paul Spencer, Heather Greer and Kevin Greer; mother-in-law, Allie Ray Wise of Columbia; four sisters; one brother; and several nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Charles Wall, Don Chunn, Bobby Gaskell, Bill Ammons, Donald Kincaid and Earl Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Wall, Eddie Ables, John Brown, Mike Boehms, Mike Layne, Bill Shelton, Larry Logue, Kirby Howell, Harold Primm and agents and employees of Crye-Leike Realtors.
