William LeRoy Watson Sr

William LeRoy Watson, Sr., 79, retired from the State Highway Department and resident of the Carter's Creek Pike, died Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Calvin Lunn officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The Maury County native was the son of the late Virgil Watson and Betty Louise Rankin Watson Haywood. He was first married to Violet Gimmell Watson of Columbia, who survives.He was married March 25, 1964 to Sandra Joyce Conner, who died August 26, 1996. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Lou (Sammy) Lail of Lead Hill, Arkansas, Patricia Carlyne Watson and Anita Raylee Usher of Columbia; a son, William LeRoy "Butch" Watson, Jr. of Columbia; six grandchildren, Angie Jean (Keith) Tilghman, Charlotte Ann Moyer, Carla LeAnne (Ricky Joe) Taylor, Michael Bruce Goins, Jr., Jacob Dillon Usher and Sandra Paige Tomlinson; seven great-grandchildren, Dalton Tilghman, Carter Tilghman, Brianna Moyer, Ashlynn Moyer, Katelynn Taylor, Hope Taylor and Cole Taylor; a sister-in-law, Cindy Loftin Crigger; two nieces, Cheyenne (Shaun) Nay, Lauren Hay; a nephew, Cody Hay; and a great-niece, Dianna Grace Nay. Pallbearers are Tandy King, Michael Goins, Sr., John Usher, Josh Diaz, Johnny Watkins and David McMeen.
