Mr. Willie Newton Cothran, Jr., 66, self-employed roofer and former resident of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Trinity Hospital in Erin, Tennessee. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Rhodes officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late Willie Newton Cothran, Sr. and Gladys Pearl Roberts Cothran. He was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Faye Cothran Boyd of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Danny (Deana) Cothran of Nashville; four grandchildren, Chris Davis of Mt. Pleasant, Ben Cothran, Samantha Cothran and Sheila Cothran all of Texas; four brothers, Lewis (Pat) Cothran of Culleoka, Robert (Jinny) Cothran of Mt. Joy, Jeffrey Cothran of Mt. Pleasant, Mark (Julie) Filson of Hampshire; five sisters, Martha Sharp and Linda (Nelson) Rhodes both of Mt. Pleasant, Betty (David) Dyer and Helen Bell both of Culleoka, Velda Filson of Columbia; nephews, Garry Dyer, Greg Dyer, James Lewis Cothran, Johnny Cothran, Shane Cothran, Joe Rhodes, Kevin Rhodes, Tim Bell, Johnathan Cothran, Matt Cothran, Luke Cothran, Chris Craig, John Filson, Adam Filson; nieces, Alesia Beshears, Michelle Hood, Kim Owens, Robin Fogel, Victoria Filson, Sarah Gibson; double first cousins, Pat McKennon, Jimmy Faye Chapman, Dorothy Longsdorf; and mother of his children, Linda Uselton Cothran. He was preceded in death by a brother, Neal Cothran, two sisters, Mildred Kelley, Joyce Spurlock, a nephew, Jason Craig and brother-in-law, L.C. Bell.
