Mr. Willie Erwin "Smiley" Hardison, 75, mechanic at Monsanto Company for 30 years, died Friday, October 19, 2007 at Nashville Veterans Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 p.m. at Jackson Heights Church of Christ with Bradley Dugger officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols. He attended Maury County schools and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ and former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Woodmen of the World. Following his retirement from Monsanto Company, he worked for several years at Prince's Market. Mr. Hardison was known for his love of life, people, and Jackson Heights Church of Christ and enriched the lives of everyone he met each day. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rene Lovett Hardison; twin daughter and son, Karen (Ray) Johnson of Columbia and Kiven (Nina) Hardison of Sierra Vista, Arizona; granddaughter, Brandy (Bruce) Cheatham of Columbia; grandsons, David Kimery of Orlando, Florida, Bryan (Misty) Hardison of Columbia, and Michael Hardison of Sierra Vista, Arizona; sister, Maidlin Prince (Gene Street) of Lynnville; niece, Terry (Eddie) Jones; nephew, Bobby (Cathy) White; special great-nieces, Jennifer Ward and Emily Ward. Active pallbearers are Royal Dickson, Bruce Cheatham, David Ward, Tim Hill, Ray Kuykendall, William (Bubba) Lovett, Lee Nicholson, Jerrel Lovett, and David Lovett. Honorary pallbearers include former Monsanto Company employees, men of Jackson Heights Church of Christ, and Dr. James Kelley.
