Mrs. Wilma Jean Whiteside Kennedy, 71, died Monday, February 13, 2006 at Alexian Village of Tennessee in Signal Mountain. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Porter King officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Connor Whiteside and Mabel Walker Whiteside. She was a 1951 graduate of Central High School. On May 15, 1955 she married Blair Keeling Kennedy who preceded her in death August 23, 1993. In 1965 Mrs. Kennedy began her employment at First Farmers & Merchants Bank where she held various positions. At her retirement in December 1997 she was a Customer Service Representative. She was a longtime resident of 2nd Avenue and was a member of West 7th Street church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Lee Ann Kennedy of Nashville; one son, Mark (Wetherly) Kennedy of Chattanooga; one grandson, Keeling Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Paul T. Butts, William Massey, Clyde W. Farris, Revis Harris, Joe T. Kelley, Jim Bratton and Johnny Steele. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Stevens, David I. Wise, O'Neill D. Moore, Waymon L. Hickman, Virgil H. Moore, Jr., and members of the Porter King Sunday School Class at West 7th Street church of Christ.
