Wilma Cathey Nichols

Margaret Wilma Cathey Nichols, 94, widow of Buford Nichols, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at her residence on Porter Circle. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. William Rolman officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late Kenny D. Cathey and Ruby Lillian Garrett Cathey. She attended Marshall County schools and was a graduate of Forrest High School in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Nichols was retired since 1975 from the finishing department of E. I. DuPont and Spontex Corporations. She was a long-time member of Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include daughters, Peggy Walters and Betty Rodgers of Columbia; grandchildren, Terri (David) Pinkston, Charles W. Rodgers, Jr., Steven C. (Martha Allen) Walters, Tracy A. Walters, and Guy L. Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Ansley B. Rodgers, Allison N. "Ali" Walters, and Payton C. Walters; great-great-grandchild, Kaden W. Rodgers. Pallbearers are Charles Martindale, Briggs Primm, James Rochelle, James Hammond, Calvin Dodd, Bobby Brown, Charles Martin, John Park, Alvin Luna, Aubrey Flagg, and Charlie Jackson.
