Wilma Steele

MRS. WILMA STEELE Mrs. Wilma Gregg McKinney Steele, 84, resident of Second Avenue, died Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wayne Hardison and Mike Greene officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Columbia Academy, 1101 West Seventh Street, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Roy W. Gregg and Louise Throneberry Gregg. She was first married to James McKinney who died in 1944 and later married Gilbert S. Steele who also preceded her in death on December 21, 1981. Mrs. Steele was a member of Northview Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Suda McKinney of Nashville; Roy (Linda) Steele of Fort Worth, Texas; John (Debra) Steele of Columbia; two sisters, Ola Mae Bailey of Columbia, Katherine Glass of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ernie Gregg. Pallbearers will be Marty Tyree, Tom Ferguson, Ryan Steele, Jonathan Steele, Ben Steele, and Ed Land. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Casias, Jack Johnson, Cleve Walls, Donnie Walters, and elders and deacons of Northview Church of Christ.
