Harry Phillip Daimwood

d. April 3, 2022

Harry Phillip Daimwood, 73, son of the late Sam and Angie Daimwood, returned to his Heavenly home on April 3, 2022, where he met the warm embrace of his beloved wife, Karen. Phil was born and raised in the Bear Creek community of Columbia, Tennessee where he enjoyed fishing the Duck River, skating down a frozen Bear Creek with his adoring sister, Lynn, keeping his mother, Angi busy by having the home that all the kids wanted to frequent including hosting last-minute neighborhood parties to ride their pony named “Billy” and goat, sharpening his outstanding athletic skills on every plot of land in Maury County, keeping the road hot riding his mini bike to cause mischief with the “Riverside Rats”, helping his father build the motor to his first car – a MG Midget, and learning his father’s homebuilding and carpentry skills (gifts that inspired Phil’s career in architecture). Phil graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1966, where he was co-captain of the varsity basketball and baseball teams, Class Treasurer, and never missed an opportunity to flaunt his “King of Basketball” title. He went to Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas on a baseball scholarship. However, he “ran the wheels off” his Ford driving back to see his high school sweetheart, so Phil and Karen happily married on September 7, 1968. With his “pretty little red head” by his side, Phil graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Architecture. Phil practiced for 50 years at DDP Architects, an architectural firm he co-founded where he designed hundreds of schools throughout the southeast. Phil was an excellent golfer, prolific storyteller, and his colorful character was equally matched by his eclectic wardrobe. Phil lived for and dedicated his life to loyally, generously, and kindly loving “his girls”, his wife and three daughters. Phil is survived by his daughters, Brandy, Dixie, and Daisy, and sister, Lynn. His legacy also includes grandchildren Saile, Brett, Joshua, Caleb, Micah, Greyson, Arlington, Cruze, and Hudson. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home; 5000 County Road 46A; Sanford, Florida. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with local arrangements.
