View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast John Liggett Stofel, 46, Vice-President of Columbia Neon Company, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at his residence on Old Sowell Mill Pike. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Mike Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Morton Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Morton Cemetery, c/o Billy Liggett, 2871 New Cut Road, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of Charles W. and Barbara Liggett Stofel of Columbia. He was a 1984 graduate of Columbia Central High School, received an Associate's Degree from Columbia State Community College and a Bachelor's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University. John used to raise coon dogs and loved to fish, hunt and raise farm animals. He enjoyed motorcycles and loved riding his Harley. He was a member of Antioch Church of Christ. In addition to his parents John is survived by his wife, Betsy Gerencser Stofel of Columbia whom he married June 18, 2004; daughters, Lauren Mae Stofel and Samantha Lee Stofel both of Columbia, Nicole Gerencser of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; brother, George Wesley (Shannon) Stofel of Columbia; paternal grandmother, Willie Mae Huff Stofel of Columbia; nephew, Weston Stofel; nieces, Kara Stofel, Katie Stofel; and grandchildren, Sarah Gerencser, Alex Gerencser and Makayla Gerencser. Active pallbearers are Weston Stofel, Wesley Gilliam, Cody Davis, John Collier, Jon Cozze and Jeff Smithson. Honorary pallbearers include friends and employees of Columbia Neon.
